Swiss Federal Statistical Office (BFS) · HESTA · Data through August 2026
Only official, traceable data is shown. Annual values run from 2019 to 2025, monthly values from January 2025 to the latest reporting month.
- Source: Swiss Federal Statistical Office (BFS), HESTA accommodation statistics.
- Geography: Switzerland as a whole (BFS selection “Schweiz”). This is the national total published by BFS; it is not calculated from municipal or cantonal figures.
- Scope: open hotels and health establishments as defined by BFS. Origin refers to the guests' country of residence (Swiss residents or foreign residents). Overnight stays of foreign residents are total overnight stays minus overnight stays of guests resident in Switzerland.
- Net room and bed occupancy refer to available net capacity. Annual occupancy is not averaged from monthly percentages.
- Establishments, rooms and beds are official annual averages, not year-end stock. The reporting month is derived from the source metadata; current occupancy is the reporting-month value and YTD occupancy is not calculated.
- Period comparisons (YTD) compare identical month windows of the reporting and prior year. Length of stay is a DIH Solutions calculation (overnight stays divided by arrivals for the identical period) and not a published BFS indicator.
- ADR and RevPAR are not part of the public dataset.
The data shown is based on official sources and is prepared by DIH Solutions Research. The presentation is a high-level market overview and does not constitute a project-specific feasibility, valuation or investment conclusion.
